See John M Green (Nowhere Man) at SJWF with Stephen Toltz (A Fraction of the Whole) on 'A Novel Experience' - Sunday 26 August
29th August 2010
From an idea to the bookshelves, and all the sweat and tears between: the experience of a debut novelist is one that is excruciatingly hard and inimitably rewarding. The authors on the panel have endured the multifaceted publishing process firsthand. After an eclectic career, Steve Toltz wrote his first novel, A Fraction of the Whole, to worldwide acclaim. The massive 700-page episodic novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and for the Guardian First Book Award. On the other side of the publishing spectrum is John M. Green, who had firsthand experience being in the slush pile as a writer and also being behind the desk as a publisher. The co-founder of independent Australian book publisher Pantera Press, he spent 30 years in executive life before he decided to bank on his lifelong passion – writing. Sunday 29 August 2010 at 10:45AM – 11:45AM at Sydney Jewish Writers Festival, Shalom College, UNSW, Barker Street, Kensington. $20.
