“I am beyond thrilled to have signed on with Pantera Press for my next novel,” said Awad.

“I’m extremely excited about this next stage in my writing career, and buoyed by the enthusiasm of my publisher, Lex Hirst, whom I know is passionate about championing unique voices.”

Control on the Way Down is compelling women’s fiction about a Muslim woman finding her way. Ten years ago, Sahar pursued her happily ever after when she married Khaled and followed him to Jordan, leaving behind her family, her friends and a thriving cake business. Once a shy, devout Muslim woman, an unhappy marriage and isolation has forced her to question her beliefs and seek out a new beginning in Sydney. There Sahar befriends the owner of a local patisserie, Maggie, who takes her under her wing and teaches her about sweets and life. But just as Sahar begins to establish a new normal, her husband arrives, wanting to save their marriage.

Control on the Way Down will be published in 2021.
