He was previously The Australian's Canberra bureau chief and Queensland bureau chief, news editor at the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs and head of news at his hometown newspaper, the Gold Coast Bulletin. Chambers has worked in the Canberra, New South Wales and Queensland press galleries and covered major stories, elections and budgets across the country and overseas.
